Georgia Fowkes
Georgia Fowkes prides herself in content creation for others, working as a creative director in varying projects and as a photographer in others. She is a skilled photographer who shoots not only by camera but also by drone.
There are many aspects which were incorporated into the build of her site but it was key that it was clean but with some artistic flare. Georgia wanted the to build the site around her previous works and show her skills off to help gain new clients.
Collecting subscriptions and staying in touch with people plays a vital role in Georgia building her client base and with that she wanted to have a subscription pop up which allows the capture of names and email addresses. This pop up appears twice on the site, once on the initial load, then again when the contact page is accessed. The popup was designed to be simple but memorable through the choice of picture and layout.
The Challenge
Start
The Lausanne Guide had an existing website but it looked dated, ran slow, and wasn’t the easiest to keep up-to-date.
The challenge was to create a website that has the look and feel of a magazine. The website needs to be easily updatable by Sarah and Tanya for blog posts, the directory, and to add event listings, whilst still looking great to their visitors.
By partnering with us at WPDesigns we were able to take the designs that the girls had put together and come up with a strategy to turn it into a working, functional website that achieved all of their criteria.
The Approach
Plan
In order to make sure that each of the criteria was met we planned out the site and how each part would be put together and built.
Each section of the site had to work seamlessly and flow into the next, carrying the design through out the pages, posts, directory, and events.
It was decided that the best way to carry this out was to maintain a distinctive font type face, spacing, and the color scheme. This was needed on each section in order to ensure cohesion.
The Launch
Process
The Lausanne Guide went through the web design process and has been launched and live. The website is regularly updated by the girls and continues to grow and increase in size, traffic, and value to the city of Lausanne.
