How to create your Mail Chimp API Key

Creating your mailchimp api key

MailChimp is an incredibly popular email marketing platform and rightly so.  They have a great free version which allows you to use many of the major and necessary features and they allow you to add up to 2,000 subscribers and send up to 12,000 emails per month. That is enough for most growing businesses. Mailchimp offers a wide range of intergrations many of which are email marketing plugins and forms built with wordpress.

Getting Mailchimp to work with your chosen platform is done by the use of an API – Application Programming Interface. In essence it allows the 2 programs to communicate with each other and share the necessary data.

If you use Mailchimp for email marketing  the chances are high that you will need to use another application along side it, the 2 will need to communicate efficiently and for that to happen you will need to create a API. Below are some step by step instructions on how create the API.

You can also just login to your account, and then go to the following URL:

https://us1.admin.mailchimp.com/account/api/

Once there, Click Create and then copy the API key that is created, if you are working with us then that will need to be pasted and sent forwards to us.

Or you can follow the steps below

  • Login to your account
  • Click on your name/organization in the top-right corner. Then select Account.
